Problem with search results for camera listing

7/11/2009 02:26
Hi

I've got a listing that is not appearing correctly when searched.

My item no. is 300362371695, when I do a search under "Nikon D300 body" with "price and postage lowest first" or "price and postage highest first", my listing which is cheaper than a lot of the other search items, but it still appears last and even when you search for the highest is still last in the search results.

I have chosen postage option "by location"

I don't understand how to correct this.

here is the link

Link

Thanks to anyone who can assist.

Did you recently edited your listing?

I had a similiar problem a month ago: Link

I no longer have this problem. The search ranking based on "price + postage: lowest first" is now correct for my item.

It's a feature of the way calculated postage works. When you select by price + postage (highest or lowest), items which have calculated postage automatically come up after all items with flat rate postage.....

I complained about it when the "price + postage" first came in and was told that it is meant to work like this.....

I was hoping that they might have changed the system, but it looks like it still works like this.

Sorry

gday_smile, your item appeared at the bottom of the list last night, and it's still at the bottom this morning.

Best Match uses price, as well as other factors to calculate search rankings, and it might take a while for the price change to factor into the calculations.

Or revising listings(lowering the price, changing the item description etc) negatively impacts search rankings. And then it takes time for the listing to improve in the rankings. I suspect that this is the case, based on my own experience.

Regarding calculated postage, gday_smile's postage is is actually a fixed $10.25 by registered post. So I can't see how calculatated postage is involved.

moonlight I don't know where you are looking but it is definitely calculated postage.

OP it wouldn't matter to me if your item showed up first in the search I would hit the back button on reading your terms before I even got to the description.

*waves to Lynny*

On my computer, there's HUGE amounts of white space even when page is fully loaded & pics are only showing on left of screen-definitely can't see any TOS but can see plenty in pretty pink on another of their items.

So maybe MY computer is under the mushroom:^O

What were you drinking last night Foxy.................................and can I have some ;)

This is a c & p of the terms which are at the top od the description and written in red:

3. If for any reason you are unhappy with the item, PLEASE email me PRIOR to leaving any negative or neutral feedback as I am here to help.

4. 3 postage options given. Will NO LONGER be held responsible for any lost/damaged items sent by regular post (sent at buyers risk). Strongly suggest Express Post or Registered Post.

5. Payment to be received within 5 days of auction ending or non paying bidder alert will be filed. Bank deposit preferred due to paypal's high fees.

PJ: If you have javascript turned off in your browser, the postage price is missing. But if you turn on javascript, you can see the postage price is:

"AU $10.25Registered Parcel Post"

I've copied and pasted the above straight from the listing, from the postage price area, just below the box to enter the bidding amounts.

Also, if you click on the "Postage and Payments" tab, next to the "Description" tab, just below the picture of the item, you'll also see "AU $10.25Registered Parcel Post".

I have enabled and disabled javascript in Opera, Firefox and IE, and they both show or don't show the postage price, based on the javascript setting.

foxette-in-sox: I see the white spaces and blue text in both Opera and IE, but the listing looks fine in firefox. Different browsers process the html code in slightly different ways, so not all webpages look the same in all browsers.
