What feedback would you leave?

4/11/2009 18:29
Hi All,

I purchased a limited edition DVD boxset, which is nolonger available instore, on Monday 26th October & paid immediately via Paypal. I stupidly purchased it on my selling id, not this one which is my buying id). The item was posted on Sat 31st Oct and arrived 3rd November (I just picked it up from my PO Box).

I get home & find an email from the seller dated the 2nd Nov complaining about me using Paypal & how she'd been charged $6. She goes on to say "why should I have to pay the $6 because you don't want to pay by Bank deposit?". The email wasn't sent via Ebay.

Now that just puts the icing on the cake. I was charged $30 for Registered Post and the DVD set turns up in a 5kg pre-paid Express Post satchel with no packaging to protect it. The front cover of the boxset is torn in 3 places from the lack of packaging. The inside at a quick glance looks ok but I'll have a good look and play the discs to make sure they are ok tonight.

I just can't believe the ordacity of this woman! She just pocketed a $13 handling fee and she's complaining about being charged a $6 fee from Paypal. She also sent the item via a cheaper service - if she'd sent it registered post it would have been cubed so at the very least it would have been $20 + packaging.

What feedback would you leave for this transaction? Any suggestions would really be appreciated.

Thanks
Wraith

WOW to be charged $6 by paypal you must of paid HEAPS for the boxed set, i think she is telling porkies, ive sold items that are $300 AUD and USD and not been charged anywhere near that for fees.

Also registered post is only $2.80 + i think its $1.30 extra per every $100 over the first $100, so if your items were $200 you should of paid $4.10 registered post.

I would play all CD's first to see that all of them work, then leave fb, DONT leave it till you know your product works properly.

But you could then always leave her a neutral if your happy with the product and its all working stating something along the lines of....(Seller wanted $6 for PP fees, paid $13 handling, item box damaged due to lack of packing)

Just keep it factual, if you cant fit all of that in then dont leave spaced where the commas are and try to abbrivate where you can, you can get rid of the word item and just have box damaged.

Dont type in capitals and stay factual, but you have 2 months to leave fb so make sure you do play all CD's first.

Wraith, firstly I would email her and ask about a refund on the overcharging, and lack of packing.
but check the discs first.

the reason she has to pay the $6, is because that is what PayPal charge and PayPal is the payment option YOU chose... too bad, sooo sad.

you've got lots of time to leave a f/b dont jump in just yet, check the discs, explore your options with this unreasonable seller.....

Oh and also make sure if you can to state charged $30 registered post, you might need to leave a follow up to your initial feedback you do leave her so you can then fit it all in, but you need to address all areas so others know, sounds like she took you for a ride and also ALL sellers must accept paypal and how rude of her to make you feel guilty for wanting to pay by a safe method and not just into her bank account where she can just take off with your money.

Rather amazing really--and quite greedy too.

Feedback? Well, that's a difficult one since it's necessary to compact what you want/need to say into no more than a dozen or so words.

Certainly the purpose of feedback is to warn, or alternatively recommend, other Ebayers about who they're about to deal with, so you need to be fair and honest.

Maybe something like: Item fine, but seller tried to extract extra costs of post & pp.

Putney for her to incur $6 in PP fees the item must of cost HEAPS, and also to be charged $30 for registered indicated it cost heaps or major rip off.

You think she will give a refund on the overcharging when she has stated she thinks the buyer should pay $6 in PP fees, LOL she has got bucklys of getting any money back, AND i bet IF sellers were allowed to still leave negs then this is one seller who would leave a neg for her buyer, when the buyer has done NOTHING wrong at all.

river daisy, the buyer can leave fb and then also follow up to fb left if she has more to say, but i would hit on all points, overcharged for handling, box damaged due to lack of packing, seller wanting $6 for PP fees, being charged $30 for registered post.

So you need to think about what you want to say, hit on all the relevant points and put some of it in the feedback, then go in to the feedback forum and leave follow up feedback to feedback you have left, then leave the rest of your feedback in the follow up.

Wish would could see the item and cost and postage charge etc and know who this rip off seller is.

OP im sending you an email ok.

The boxset cost $200AUD + $30 pp&h & had Registered Post next to it. The boxset weighs 3kg and is 34cm Wide x 45cm Long x 8cm Deep - That's just the boxset, a mailing box would add to those dimensions. I just entered the above dimensions into the AP calculator and it would have cost $21.20 + registration & insurance. It was coming from WA to QLD.

Due to thiis sellers shifty nature by not sending your item via registered....but making you pay registered...She forfeits her seller proctection through Paypal as she sent it via regular mail..So if you wanted to be a bit shifty...as she was...and considering your item arrived damaged also..I'd give him some of his own...he can't prove you received it by sending regular...so lodge 'item not recieved'... After all it reached you in damaged cond. and it was $200...You should be reimbursed for something even its just purely the bad experience...This is the only way to lift a sellers game...dk :)

dk_collectit , what you suggest is simply dishonest and not worthy of serious consideration .

All any decent seller who has a problem with paypal fees has to do , is offer a discount to buyers who pay by bank deposit etc.

That , and allow for paypal fees in the start price and/or p&h fee.

What feedback would I leave ? Probably a neutral if all discs play o.k. and mark down the stars as appropriate.

Negs are for non supply and other more serious issues in my book , but the choice is yours.

Apart from which, the 5kg express post satchel is a 'Paypal approved' method of posting so the seller is covered and any attempt at a dodgy claim would be seen for that on the spot. :(

The 5kg express post satchel costs $18.50 and includes proof of postage as long as it's posted over the counter at a post office. The info on the Auspost site specifically sets out the Paypal/eBay side of things too: Express Post 5kg satchel

I'm not excusing the pocketing of the difference in the postage cost versus what was charged, just thinking through why the satchel may have been used. But then, I would've packaged the box set and happily refunded the postage difference...

The $30 postage would not have concerned me if the item had been properly packaged. If there was damage even to the box I would open an item not as described dispute in Paypal, drag it out as long as you can to give you time to watch all the DVDs to make sure they are OK.

At the very least you tie her funds up in Paypal which may provide a salutary lesson in how to pack properly, you can also email her privately and say that had she not overcharged on postage while failing to package properly and complained because you used the only sensible payment method for an item of that value you may not have been so quick to open a dispute.
