To stop chicken pox from itching, put some porridge oats inside a foot cut from a pair of tight.. tie in a knot and then fill a bath with water and bath with porridge oats... this will stop the itching.

Bicarb in the bath is supposed to help too apparently.

My OH got them at 32 and was REALLY unwell before he got spots but wasn't too bad once the spots started to appear.

Yep I've been really unwell for three days, but the spots started today. I didn't know Pinetarsol still existed. Will look into that too.

Pinetarsol baths
Oaty baths...

Lots of calamine...

Dose the kids up with phenergan during the day and Painstop at night. Helps relieve the itching and knocks them out for the night.

You could give it a try too (I can't, can't tolerate codiene) it worked wonders on my son when he had a really nasty dose of it 2 years back. I just knocked him right out with the two meds above as his suffering was bad to see and there was nothing else I could offer him to help.

Yep we've been using Phenergan to help the kids, and I'm not great with codeine but will definitely knock myself out tonight. I think we'd cope better if it wasn't so hot. The local chemist said they don't recommend calamine any longer because it dries the skin too much which makes scarring more prominent ?:|. We bought a clear gel called Solosite but its single patient use and needs to be 5mm thick. We will need a truck load of the stuff in otherwords.

Aloe vera gel is soothing and also very good for minimising scarring of any sort.
