I'd go for it if you can find one.
As long as it's your own 'patch of dirt' in the world, you can live with it

It's amazing what you can overlook, when you know it is yours.
Our first house needed lots of work done to it, and we had started to, bit by bit.
In the end it didn't matter, because we sold it a few years later, before we finished it and made a small profit.
And as for how long it takes to do things, we have been in this house 11 years and only renovated the much needed kitchen 2 years ago.
I'm still waiting to get the bathrooms done, but it will, in time
