does anybody know if you require a pink slip to sell a registered
vehicle by auction on ebay motors

No not with the Ebay rules
But it is a good thing to sell a car with one.
For $30 it is a good selling point and you could get more bids if the potencial buyer knew the condition from a professional.

Yes I agree with Flan and if the mechanic knocks the car back because it needs tyres and a seatbelt or some other consumables it often adds confidence to far distance bidders that the car has had a thorough inspection from a professional who has found small faults but has deemed the car otherwise roadworthy
