We will also be unable to answer any questions specific to your account.

We'll unlock the thread and start taking your questions in about 20 minutes.

Hi Michelle,

As a bookseller on Ebay I can't help but feel that the Store changes to be introduced and those introduced with the postage cap are aimed at getting rid of us. Most books sold are under $10, so the 400% increase in listing fees will make listing low priced, popular books feasible. My Store has 40% of books under the $5 mark which I will no longer be able to carry. As such, the buyers who hunt out cheaper titles will leave Ebay unsatisfied with their shopping experience - and will take their $ elsewhere. Ebay will no longer be a 'one stop shop'.

Books have always worked exceptionally well in a Store format as they are usually searched using title and author. Most book buyers do not browse categories. As such the Best Match will have minimal impact for us booksellers.

Other Ebay (the US and UK?) sites introduced reduced listing fees to compensate media sellers, is this something Ebay Australia will consider? Especially considering the double-whammy of the postage cap (which does not even cover the cost of a 3kg satchel, BTW).

Are there plans to introduce the cheaper insertion rates for media (books, music, DVD’s etc) like on Ebay US & Ebay UK?
And if not, why not.

Hi, is there a real reason, apart from eBay's greed, to entice me to remain? Double price for my current store level and triple my current SIF items, and what do I get in return?

Hi solaluna88,

Thanks for your question. As I mentioned in an earlier post we won't be answering questions on Best Match tonight, but please come along same time, same place next week and we can address these questions then.

Cheers

From 10 September, Store Inventory Format will no longer be available.

So what happen if I list a store inventory format listing, will they be deleted or not on 10th Sept or deleted after 30 days?

Will there any change in auction type format in the very near future?

I second everything written in kj-kj-kj's post. If I price increase is due and warranted I can accept that, but to increase the current list price x4, along with a 25% increase on the monthly store cost itself, is very unfair to those of us who have invested time and money into purchasing stock for our stores, which we can now no longer afford to list.

I'm having an identity crisis ;)

Hi kj-kj-kj (posts 5 & 8) and farawaynearby (post 6),

Thanks for your questions. We have received feedback from secondhand booksellers that the pricing is not ideal for your particular type of product.

Firstly, we're confident that more buyers will be able to find your products when they are incorporated into eBay core search results so this should help with your conversion rate.

Secondly, we monitor other global sites closely and are aware of their media pricing. We would consider changing pricing for media, and may offer price promotions in the short term.

Are you aware that in the other markets final value fees are as high as 15%? Would this type of model work for you?

Hi hardcoversandmore,

I'm sorry to hear that you feel that way.

Over the past couple of weeks it has been interesting to see sellers look at the changes and make predictions about how it will impact their business.

When looking at how the changes may impact your business, it is very important to consider all factors including price changes, improvements to the visibility of store listings and Best Match. When weighing up all the factors many sellers have been delighted that the changes will have an overall benefit.

In summary, what I am trying to say that if you are only reviewing this with pricing in mind, you may not be picking up on the whole picture.

Regards,
Daniel
