> Is there any reason why the relevent category is not being factored into Best Match? Wouldn't it make more sense if a search for Red Shoes only showed footwear rather than pet accessories? Google seem to be able to do it.

Hi austeam,

For some categories, Best Match definitely takes relevant category into account. So where you list a DVD cleaner in the Romance DVDs category, for example...

Hi - sorry if this has been asked but I've only just got on and it will take me an hour to re-read this workshop.

If best match is going to work (partly) on price plus postage how will it work in this scenario -
Customer types in a very board search term (lets say for example "Elmo party"). Currently it brings up all items in the party category and there lots of varying prices as there are very different items (small and large etc).
Will best match do the same thing but give weight to price+postage and therefore small cheap items with low postage will appear at the top all the time??

> Best Match will not treat Diamond Powsellers differently from other sellers. Irrespective of the size of the seller, Best Match will consider the same criteria like recent sales, customer satisfaction rating, Item price, postage cost, etc to sort listing. Just the fact that someone is a Diamond Seller, will not get the seller more exposure in search

> What rates highest, recent and high sales of items, or high dsr's?
>
> So for the diamond PS, he might sell 100 of one item per day etc, and his stars might all be 4.7, while i might only sell 4 of any item per day yet my stars are 4.9, so will i be higher than him?

Hi sexy*harley*chick

Having good DSR's and high recent sales are both important
factors. In addition other factors will also play a role. It will be a combination of all factors together which will influence the rank of listings

Hi gem0075,

Auctions still have a place, they are typically great for items where the value is uncertain. The Best Match criteria for auctions is different to Buy It Now, with Time Ending soonest a factor. That means that auction do eventually end up at the top of search.

If you own a Store from 10 September, then you are likely to be best served by listing 30 day Good Till Cancelled multi-quantity Buy It Now listings.

I'm not sure if my question was understood about the relisting of an item to keep the ranking up (mulitple listing)..

Is it ok to have some days between pressing the relist button, or does it need to be relisting instantly?

Hi Farawaynearby,

Actually, buyers already enjoy new/used refinement options in all search result pages. Accurate item specifics - such as specifying the condition of your item - is very important to buyers.

Thanks

> But it is still not clear - how will Best Match deal with used products versus new? Will the cheaper used product always get a higher ranking and visibility on price? They will always win versus brand new product. Or is there a algorithim (or however this is spelt, no time to look it up..) to adjust for this?

Hi bookspecials,

To be perfectly clear, whether an item is new or used is not a factor within Best Match....

BUT

It's important to remember that buyers will probably have a pretty good idea of what they want to spend and whether they want to purchase a new or used product. Ensure when you list your item, your title is relevant and you use the item specifics to make it easy for buyers to identify if your item is new or used.

Hi sincomau,

Auction prices will remain the same, however under Best Match the variables that will affect ranking is listing end time, customer satisfaction ratings and postage cost. Best Match won't differentiate from Store listings or Auctions. Only the Best Match criteria listed above.

Hi gem0075,

You need not press the relist button instantly. But it makes perfect sense to relist at the earlist as your listing is popular and buyers will be looking for it.

Thanks

Hi watooseprints_tripod.. (post# 134),

What is wrong with China Town? It happens to be one of my favourite parts of Sydney.

Distance is not a criteria in Best Match. The Best Match criteria are clearly listed here.

Hi gdayfromoz,

Thanks for your post.

It's great to hear that your DSRs are above the eBay averagel. Good DSR scores will definitely contribute to your listings having a higher ranking as they are related to your 'customer satisfaction score'.

Other factors apart from your DSRs which will impact your ranking is your item price, postage cost you set, recent sales, listing end time and title relevance.

Hopefully this answers your post.

Cheers,
Deric

Gem,

By the looks of it you can relist whener, but the more sales you have closer to the potential sale is what counts so if you fail to relist for 30 days, that will not benefit you if your last sale was 30 days past as compared to if it was only 7 days

*shrug*

Wont penalise you, just wont benefit you is all by the looks of it
